TRICK OR TREATING!!

This morning Silas says to me, "Mom, I'm a bumbobee pampire."

"See. Rrrrraaaarrr!!"

Here are some pics of the kiddos playing some of the games at the Halloween Carnival.

A Quidditch Match

A cool Japanese Halloween kite room

Fishing for a treat,

Bumblebee caught a twix fish
Plinko

The hit of the night was the black light skeleton dance to "Thriller". I don't know why we didn't record it, what was I thinking? The boys just giggled the entire time.
It was really cute.

Here are my men, Zorro, Bumblebee and Iron Man
We finished the night with some Trick or Treating and pumpkin pie at Taska's parents place in Spanish Fork.

COUNTDOWN 1 DAY TO HALLOWEEN!

Fresh fruit hOWLoween bagels for breakfast.

The boys gobbled them up. Such a cute idea and
really easy to make.

Here is Jdub being a vampire, or "wahruss man" as Si says.
We went to spend the day with Dustin and Taska in Spanish Fork. We had Mummy pizza, garlic ghost potatoes,
and witch fingers for lunch.

In the evening we headed off to their ward party and gobbled up some homemade chilli and cornbread. Wish I could get the recipe for the chilli and cornbread I had. They were AMAZING!

COUNTDOWN 2 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN

A vampire BOO-nana and a werewolf claw for breakfast.

A skeleton boiled egg for an afternoon snack.

Bloody eye of newt soup with grilled worm and cheese coffin sandwiches. (Tomato soup, black olives stuffed w/ cream cheese, fried beef bologna)
Mom and dad had a grilled slime and worm sandwich. (Green pesto, sauteed onion and fire roasted red peppers with cave-aged English Cheddar)
Absolutely delicious!
We didn't have a family dessert because we went Trunk or Treating at Butterfield Elementary and then to a Ward Party with cookies and rootbeer!!

COUNTDOWN 3 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN!

For breakfast we had a jack-o'-lantern orange filled with fresh fruit. Logan wanted grapes, kiwi and bananas in his.

Silas only wanted "gapes" in his. Disclaimer ***I am not an artist only a copy cat, as you can see from his goofy looking jack-o-lantern.*** I guess that's what I get for being in such a hurry because I slept in an extra 20 minutes this morning. If you know Silas' personality I guess you'd think if was fitting!

For an afternoon snack we had googly eyes, goblin mouth and bloody toes. Logan ate one of the toes, and couldn't bring himself to eat another. He said, "It's just too real looking mom, makes my tummy queasy." Just goes to show mind over matter because Logan absolutely loves "Lil' Smokies". We didn't have a big family dinner because we went to Cornbelly's again, but there is something planned for tomorrow night. So drop in if you dare!

COUNTDOWN 4 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN!

HALLOWEEN PANCAKES WITH HOMEMADE BUTTERCREAM SYRUP.

We ate a pumpkin, haunted house, bat, witch, cat, half moon, and a ghost. (I just used cookie cutters)
***Buttercream syrup:
1 c butter
half pint buttermilk
2 c sugar
Cook over medium heat until butter melts then increase to high heat and bring to a rolling boil and cook for 2 more minutes. Take off heat and add 2 tsp. baking soda. ***Warning: when you add the soda the syrup will double in size so make sure to use a pot that will allow this.***

CREEPY CRAWLERS for an afternoon snack. It could be a praying mantis, or a spider, whatever your imagination desires.

MUMMY WRAPPED HOT DOGS for dinner.
The boys really liked these, and they were quick and easy.

BLACK CAT SKELETON for our veggie tray, with black bean dip.
Logan came to the table and said, "This is the super coolest dinner ever mom. Thanks!!" So worth it to hear that. When Jdub asked Si what this was he said, "ah kitty, skinny kitty."

MICE FOR DESSERT........chocolate covered strawberries with sliced almonds.
A complete hit!

OUR FIRST SNOW ANGEL

We woke up this morning to 2 inches of snow! Snowballs before trick-or-treating, come on! Where did fall go? Fall is my favorite time of year and it seems that winter keeps stepping on her toes. I'm glad the kids at least enjoyed the early snowfall.
They were thrilled, woke up squealing and hit the floor running, racing downstairs to bundle up and play in the snow before Logan started school. It took me 15 minutes just to find all the snow gear, 10 minutes to bundle them up, all this for only 10 minutes of playing in the snow.

In the end it was worth all the smiles and giggles, the mini snow ball fight, and the first taste of fresh snow!

HALLOWEEN PUMPKINS, ROUND 2!

Our first set of pumpkins have given up the ghost, so it was time to carve a new batch. I remember the pumpkins we carved as children lasting all month long, not just 2 weeks. The boys have been begging me for over a week to buy some more, and I couldn't really say no to $1/pumpkin at Smith's, how do you beat that!

SPOOKY SCARECROW

HEADLESS HORSEMAN
CREEPY CEMETERY
DRACULA
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

HAPPY SCARING!!!

BECAUSE IT'S HALLOWEEN!!!!

THE COOKIE MONSTER!

Today I finally discovered who the Cookie Monster is in my house.

It's a little green-eyed blonde!
The cookies have been disappearing quickly over the last few days, and I attributed it to my other green-eyed blonde, Jason, who of course can down an entire package of Oreos in one sitting. It seems that his little "mini me" loves them as much as his daddy does. It didn't matter to Silas that when I found him he was precariously sitting on the edge of the counter, with one cheek literally hanging off, completely oblivious to the danger of possibly cracking his head open...or worse. I ran to him and quickly scooted him further in so I could snap a picture before I had heart attack! Now I know why he hasn't been hungry enough to eat his dinner at night. I guess it's time to move the cookies to the pantry.
